Build A Home Studio

Go to content

Welcome to my Home Studio page.

I will try to keep this site as
OBJECTIVE as possible because I know that people are looking for a genuine 'HOW TO' site. Sadly, most often you will find only subjective help like - "Well, what I did was..." or "The guy at the music store sold me this great foam and..." While I honestly do have some things that I sell, my main goal here is to educate. So, I am sure that if you are given the FACTS and Physics, you will be able to make the right choice for your music or sound studio.

There is NO magic bullet. No accidental perfection. But we have something much better than random chance. We have solid, never-changing laws of physical matter that we can ALWAYS count on to behave in specific, calculable ways. So, yes, go ahead and take down those silly little triangular pillows from the upper corners of the room - yeah, they lied to you. Also, see if you could find someone to buy your $300 IEC power cord with the special spiral-wound, silver-plated, multi-stranded and multi-gauge wire. Oh, you really didn't think that those foam bass traps really worked did you? Good. On the following pages you will will find out what really does work AND I will provide you with the spreadsheets for calculation and links for comparison.

One of the main problems with building a home studio is
MONEY! You often find a little too much truth in the musician jokes... 'What do you call a guitar player who just lost his girlfriend??..... Homeless.' But I'm not going to 'pull' my punches here because I know you want the facts. If you only want to sound-proof your room so your neighbors can't hear you, I'll show you how and give you several options with Sound Transmission Loss estimates verses cost.

If you check out my Voo-Doo page, I wll continue to list links of Voo-Doo sites and do my best to blow away the smoke and break the mirrors. My aim here is to raise conciousness, because if we as sentient beings on this planet are to progress past this difficult self-destructive era, we must educate ourselves and others and stop using each other for our own gain. I believe that by working together, we are much more productive as a nation, community, business, and/or family. Don't let anyone use you.
